Artifact ID: blue milk cups

This is another one of those on-screen artifacts I had a really easy time identifying, because I grew up seeing identical cups in my mom’s kitchen drawer of plastic cups and bowls—except hers were a sort of seafoam-ish green:

The cup that Luke drinks from is an actual vintage Tupperware cup, known as a “Sweet Saver” (product #640-8) meant for storing and pouring liquids like maple syrup or salad dressing.
These are often available and relatively inexpensive on eBay, or you may get lucky by combing your local thrift shop for vintage Tupperware.
As for the larger pitcher on the table that Luke pours from, it is a “Juice Dispenser” made by a UK company called Stewart Plastics (#1247 008). Modern versions are made from clear plastic, but secondhand stores may offer up an original white one.

And just for a bonus, I’ll include the ‘recipe’ supposedly used for the blue milk on set in ’76. I always see this referred to as blue ‘yogmash’, but I’ve yet to discover where the term originates.

1/2 pint Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 pint milk
3-4 drops blue food colouring

Since we’re all about emulating the day-to-day life of the galactic commoner, I recommend not saving the blue milk for public events. Try adding your blue coloring and a splash of vanilla to your regular milk (or non-dairy alternative), and gain a better appreciation for the flavor landscape of the everyday moisture farmer.
